Have you observed how a revolution in computing has changed the face of air travel and hospitality in past years? Behind all of this is Mr Nicholas Bredimus. This creative man has been involved in several areas, from the luxury home design sector through an advancement of safety in the air and software programs to save manpower and time. Glancing at Nicholas Bredimus’ family history it’s easy to predict he was a lock to reach prominence. His kindred traces its antecedents as long ago as the days of Rome and can boast of a wide mix of nationalities. The maternal line originates from Germany and Scotland. England and Luxembourg, meanwhile, provided the source for Bredimus’ father’s family, although during the nineteenth century his family would emigrate.
Even after emigration to the United States, they retained their uncompromising work ethic and determination to survive and thrive. Nicholas, together with his six siblings, was a child of a father employed as a mechanical design engineer and his spouse, a nurse. Nicholas would make his home in the Lone Star State for quite some while as well as in Reston, VA, Kansas City, MO and Scottsdale, AZ. After completing his schooling, he found himself engaged in some very high powered posts for many of the most distinguished and largest companies in the airline industry. Trans World Airlines (TWA), Hughes Airwest, Republic Airlines — these businesses would all at one time or another appoint him as a VP. A dedicated programmer, Nicholas’ innovations in airline computer programs are arguably his most important legacy. Nicholas Bredimus is probably most acclaimed for a US Airways project, designing airplane upkeep computer programs, which eventually evolved into an “old reliable” for much of the industry. And yet this was only one of his major innovations for airlines and for the hotel sector. The booking programs he designed are on their way to becoming as commonly used as the aircraft maintenance software, and his room reservation routine made it profitable for hotels to shift to the first PC client based infrastructure. Next he developed QuikTix, an online, networked approach to ticketing that was an industry first.
Notwithstanding that this was certainly his specialty, he has also regularly worked in non-software areas. He worked as manager for American Express’ prestigious IT department, initiated Bredimus Systems in the early nineties, and had the honor of being the founding president of American Airlines’ AMR Travel Services.
These days, though, Mr Bredimus has stepped back from Northwest Airlines and from programming, although he’s still making the most of his mind. Presently, you can look for his work in upmarket houses employing many of the cutting edge technology currently available. It’s truly incredible how far desire can carry you!
